Abbey Multi Academy Trust is consulting on proposed changes to the admission arrangements for Lightcliffe CofE Primary School for entry in September 2027.

We are proposing two changes:

A reduction in the Published Admission Number (PAN) to 30 or 45
A removal of the faith criteria from the oversubscription arrangements, in line with diocesan guidance.

The proposed adjustments to the Published Admission Number(PAN) from either 60 to 30 or 60 to 45 are part of a strategic plan to ensure that our school continues to deliver high-quality education while using resources efficiently.

Our school remains fully capable of operating as a two-form entry where demand requires it. However, current local demographics indicate that fewer places are needed. Reducing PAN allows us to align intake with actual demand, avoiding partially filled classes and ensuring that staffing and space are used effectively.

Parents can be reassured that this change will not affect the quality of education or access to support. Our commitment to excellent teaching and learning remains unchanged. We will continue to support inclusion and maintain a vibrant, well-supported learning environment that reflects our high standards.

This adjustment is a proactive response to current trends, ensuring that resources are used wisely while preserving the flexibility to expand if demand increases in the future.

In line with diocesan guidance, we also propose to remove the faith criteria from the school’s oversubscription arrangements. This will ensure the policy remains inclusive and fully consistent with updated guidance from the Diocese and the Department for Education.
